December is a month infused with holiday vibes. The air is filled with excitement and joy, and the chilly season pushes us towards a joyful slumber as Christmas approaches. Along with hot chocolates, rum cakes and sweet-tasting vines, there is also the excitement of getting your home Christmas-ready. One way to do this is to add beautiful plants that give your space a cosy feel and allow you to enjoy the festivities with your family and friends. Here is a list of 5 perfect Christmas plants that will adorn your home, turning it into a pretty paradise.

.

ARAUCARIA

Also known as the ‘Living Christmas Tree’, the Araucaris is the quintessential plant ready to instantly upscale your home from a mundane space to one bursting with Christmassy vibes. It belongs to the conifer family and is found in regions with slightly cooler temperatures. The plant is triangular, with its branches arranged symmetrically in a two by two fashion. The leaves of the Araucaria plant are like stiff needles, having acclimatised to surviving in the world's colder regions.

How To Decorate:

Decorate your plant with fairy lights and a star on top to make it a part of your Christmas decor. If you want to go one extra step, add some gifts below it for your family together and rent a Santa Claus costume to add to the fun.

.

Euphorbia Milli

The Euphorbia Milli belongs to the cactus family, also known as the crown of thorns of the Christ Plant, referring to the crown thorn that Lord Jesus had to wear during his crucifixion to save the people. The plant is widely used as an ornamental plant grown in dry regions and thrives in bright sunlight. It is a woody shrub with thorns, bright green leaves and bracts of red and yellow flowers that bloom throughout the year. The plant is a native of Madagascar and is low-maintenance in nature.

How To Decorate:

Make a group of Euphorbia Milli Plants and decorate the pots with Christmas accessories such as stars and stockings to give them a festive look. However, keep the plants away from children and pets to protect them from thorns.

.

Christina Ficus or Syzgium

If you're wondering how to add bright foliage to your Christmas garden without artificial accessories, then we have the perfect plant. The Syzgium plant, or Christina Ficus, is a gorgeous foliage plant with stunning blazing red leaves adorning its crown. Beneath the crown of red leaves, the leaves gradually get greener, giving you a Christmas plant made by Mother Nature herself. It is perfect for borders and hedges and even as a focal point for your garden.

How To Decorate:

Place a miniature Santa Claus with a bag of gifts to maintain the festive spirit. If you wish, you can decorate the plant with star-shaped fairy lights casting a warm glow at night.

.

Salvia or the Scarlet Sage

No celebration is complete without a few delightful flowering plants adorning the Christmas mood in your home. Salvias, also known as the Scarlet Sage plant, stands out for its stunning colours, the most popular being a bright red variety that looks pretty. Plant the Salvia in a white rectangular plastic pot and see how the colours of this upright plant come alive. It is the perfect Christmas decor for your home garden.

How To Decorate:

Place the Salvia flowering plant on windowsills to give your home a wholesome Christmas vibe. The colours of the plant are bright and visible even from far away, ensuring your home will be the centre of attraction during the holiday season.

.

Poinsettia

The Poinsettia plant embodies the spirit of Christmas with its fiery red leaves adorning its crown. The red bracts, or leaves, resemble the plant wearing a Santa Claus cap and rejoicing in the feel of the festival. The super low-maintenance plant is the perfect holiday decoration, symbolizing joy, hope and goodwill. It is native to Mexico and thrives in the Indian subtropical climate.

How To Decorate:

The poinsettia itself is a decorative accessory perfect for the Christmas season. Just place a few of them in a bunch and adorn them with fairy lights and a few candles around the base.

.

Conclusion

We hope to inculcate the Christmas mood with this blog highlighting some of our favourite plants this Christmas. Since red is the dominant colour of the holiday season, we ensured that all plants mentioned had the colour in them.
